  1. This is a Cooper’s hawk. Note the sparse streaking on the bird’s belly compared to its chest and the shorter outer tail feathers compared to the center ones.

    1. You’re right! The narrow streaking is a good and useful field mark to know. Tail shape (especially when perched) is less reliable in my view. Thanks, I’ve changed the caption.
