Yes I would expect Blue jays to eat the eggs of Cardinals – or any other birds’ eggs (and young). They are omnivorous and not overly concerned about offending other birds. I’m not sure what you mean about help with nesting – But I think both sexes of blue jay care for their own young, but I don’t think they assist other species raise their young.
